INDIAN MOTORCYCLE STURGIS BACKS VINTAGE INDIAN RACING TEAM
Indian Motorcycle Sturgis signs on as an exclusive partner with 20th Century Racing’s Vintage Indian Race Team and their race bike “The Spirit of Sturgis,” a 1938 Indian Sport Scout
Sturgis, SD, May 1, 2014 – Antique motorcycle racer Brittney Olsen of 20th Century Racing teams up with Indian Motorcycle Sturgis to help preserve South Dakota history and revive the real racing roots of the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. 20th Century Racing’s authentic 1938 Indian Sport Scout Class C hand shift race bike will be a faithful representation of the Indian Motorcycles first raced at the historical half mile races hosted by Pappy and Pearl Hoel that marked the first Sturgis rally in 1938. The Spirit of Sturgis is being built to meet Class C rules for AHRMA road racing and AMA flat track racing, while staying true to the ride it to the track and race it culture, by remaining legally usable on state highways.
20th Century Racing is within the striking distance of the race bike’s completion. Once the building process is accomplished, the vintage racing team will test the limits of the freshly rebuilt machines and tune it to run like a street legal rocket. Brittney has committed to taking the old-fashioned Indian Sport Scout racer on a unique, unpaved route to the 75th Annual Sturgis from 20th Century Racing Headquarters in Aberdeen, South Dakota.
“Spirit of Sturgis” will make its grand debut during the 75th Annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally at the 2nd Annual Pappy Hoel Classic Half Mile Vintage Flat Track Races at the Sturgis Fairground’s historical half mile race track on Tuesday, August 4th at 11:00 a.m. and on display for public viewing at Michael Lichter’s “Motorcycle as Art” Naked Truth Exhibition at the Legendary Buffalo Chip for the entire duration of the historical 2015 Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.
All motorcycle and exploration enthusiasts are invited to witness the adventurous, prairie grass-roots tale of South Dakota’s very own Brittney Olsen and the Spirit of Sturgis. FOLLOW the story on Indian Motorcycle Sturgis Facebook Page and @imsturgis and @20thcenturyracing on Instagram.
